I live in Tuscaloosa area of alabama and I have a lot of Gardenia’s blooming (white and very fragrant), plus they are evergreen (don’t lose their leaves in wintertime). Another one I really enjoy and is easy to care for is the Pee Gee Hydrangea, This is not your typical hydrangea bush which may only get about 3 feet tall. The Mop head type usually are either pink or blue. The Pee Gee on the other hand flowers all summer long start off with a large long White bloom which later turns to a shade of very light pink, it covers the entire tree/bush. These can grow rather tall (12 to 15 feet) and you can shape into a tree if you like or just let it go. Remember though with any hydrangea if you cut it in the fall you will not have blooms on those particular branches you cut. The blooms grow on last years wood. Below is a link to a picture of one.
