whitewash furniture has peaks and troughs in its popularity. It’s popularity is currently increasing pretty quickly and this is reflected in the quite steep prices that some people are charging. There are places that you can buy high quality white furniture such as bedroom furniture for good a good price, but if you want to make your own here is how.
1.First you need to sand down whatever pierce of furniture you wish to whitewash. A sanding block or electrical sander should be suitable to do this but you might need to strip it chemically if there is a thick build up of paint on the piece. Now wipe the wood down with a wet cloth to removed dust, dirt and sawdust. Wait for wood to become touch dry
2.Next find a container and mix two parts white paint (ideally latex paint) with one part water. You’ll need a bowl of clean water to correct any mistakes you make and a 3″ brush. Brush the wood following along the line of the grain and use broad sweeping strokes. The watery paint has a habit of soaking into the wood quickly so you’ll need to go over area well.
3.When you have competed covering the item but before the paint has a chance to dry, wipe over it carefully to uncover the grain slightly. This is give the wood a light stain look but if you want a deeper more expensive look, just repeat the previous steps as many times as you like, four should do it though.
4.When you are happy with the look, give it a light sanding again to bring out the grain again and then seal the wood using clear satin polyurethane. Let it dry, give it a rub down with an abrasive nylon pad and repeat the process to achieve desired look. Use this method to create a great white bathroom mirror, bedside table or even dresser.
In a bad economy like today, a lot of people are reducing their expenses. One of the major things they usually avoid is home improvements.
In a great economy, home improvements are all over. Contractors are happy and busy with work. But when the economy goes south, you feel it in businesses that are in contracting.
But I would like to point out that in this economy, painting your house might actually be a great use of your money. I should know living in San Diego where you can definitely feel the housing slump, painting San Diego houses definitely helps.
Let’s consider some reasons why. Two ways to look at it are if you are going to sell your house or plan on keeping it.
If you have plans of selling the home, doing some house painting is a wise move economically. With the crash of the housing market, and falling values of homes, most homes won’t sell fast. The ones that do sell are the ones that look the best. Buyers are going to be more selective and will wait for what they want.
Well if you invest in hiring a painter, this will actually not only improve the value of your home it also makes it look better.A home that is beautiful and clean will definitely sell a lot faster than a house with no improvements.
So by getting that professional painter to make your house look good in and out, that expense actually turns into a good investment.
Now if you don’t plan on selling, what could be the benefits of doing some painting? Homeowners always want a nice house to live in. In a bad economy with less spendable cash, painting is often a reasonably inexpensive home improvement
I have seen this first hand as a painter San Diego.
A new coat of paint will make your house look just like new. Do it for the inside and out and you have a more enjoyable place to live in.
When you can’t afford to spend on that room addition painting is a great option.
When you can’t afford to remodel the bathroom or kitchen, you can make that room look new with a fresh coat of paint.
In these uncertain economic times, sometimes you just can’t do what you want to your home. Hiring painting San Diego contractors gives you that flexibility to still improve your home with little costs.
To most families, the home is a vital part of their lives. No only the day to day living in it, but also family times goes on there as well as those leisure times.
Well when the time comes when you do have to work on your home, such as doing some painting, this can be a very hard and stressful time in your life.
So with that being the situation, I would like to give you some solid advice on how to choose the right painting company. This advice comes from years working with homeowners and also running a San Diego painting company myself.
Now at first, picking the right painting contractor doesn’t see like it should be difficult. But if you consider the fact that this project will cost thousands of dollars, cause an interruption in the normal day to day life in the home, and of course can result in a beautiful job you can be proud of to one that you are embarrassed to show. This is a very big decision.
So here are some tips from my experience as a painter San Diego.
First thing, you do want to start getting quotes from several different contractors. You aren’t just trying for the best price. You are doing this so you will be able to get to know the company that you will be working with.Of course when you do get a great price, that’s great, but don’t let that be your driving force.Remember, you want the work to be done well.
Second, you want to know if they have any guarantees to their work.See if they have a solid guarantee regarding your satisfaction. This shows you how confident they are in the work they can do for you.
Thirdly, you will want to know how soon they will be available to start. Also, you will want to get a feel on how quickly they feel they can get it done. When you are going to cause a disruption like painting your house. You will have to know
how quickly they can get things back to normal.
Finally, get references of previous customers.Contact them as soon as possible to see how they felt about the work of the company.Sell how well the job was completed, if they finished on time, and if it is a good company to work with.
Do this things and you will ensure a stress free and pleasant experience working during this stressful time. Take it from my years of painting San Diego, doing these few steps will help you greatly.
