I just moved into a new place and have one of those combination washer/dryer units. If I open the dryer while it is still spinning, I briefly see scary bright orange heat in the rear which I assume is there all the time while the dryer is in use. Is this normal or should I get it looked at?
Answer:
What you see is the heating element glow. When you open the door the door switch stops the machine. However the heating element is still hot and doesn’t cool off as fast as you can open the door. Think of an electric space heater- when you turn one off the heater still glows for a minute or so. Don’t waste your money on a service call.
