The unit is older an we cant afford to replace it right now and it still works so we thought we would leave it under there until next year when we have more $$ to get a better unit instead of paying to move the old one then paying to install a new one later.. I heard it was bad for the unit to no have it out in the open and no to mention the heat blowing up under the porch..

A top discharge type condenser needs to have 4 feet of clearance. You may be recirculating some of the hot air back through the unit raising the operating temperature. Why not have the unit relocated as it would need to be eventually when it gets replaced.

My sister weed-wacked some of the grass next to one of my daffodils and accidentally cut it almost completely down to the ground. There’s barely any foliage above the ground at all. Will that daffodil bulb die completely or will it be weakened for a couple years? I live in NC (Zone 7) and it had already flowered. Just a little extra info in case that makes a difference. Well, I can’t say it was time for it to die; it had just flowered a week before it got whacked. That’s why I’m concerned. The only foliage is 3/4″ tall.

No worries. Your daffodil was on it’s way anyway. Once they bloom and the flower dies, you need to pull of the leaves anyway. In your area I don’t know if you have to dig them up in the fall or not. But if not, don’t worry. As long as the bulb is still in the ground and gets the moisture it needs, it will come back next year in the spring. And the good news is…. It may have multiplied so that you will get more flowers. Once every couple of years or so you may want to dig them up at the appropriate time in your area, and separate them as they will multiply (make new bulbs) and if left over crowded will stop performing.
