We live next door to a Couple who have a Huge 100+foot Silver maple tree, some of which hangs over my house,i have tried and tried to talk to them about pruning it up, however they wont, even though the last storm sent a Huge limb down onto our house,i have told him the next one could kill us…. he just laughs and says “that tree is solid” i am now at the end of my rope considering this tree, the limbs that did fall during the last storm did damage my home however his insurance would not pay for it saying it was an act of god,,,, i am about to lose my mind over this tree what can and what should i do i live in Indiana

Answer:
Since parts of this tree are hanging over into your property, you have every right to prune away all of it. Check with your local bylaws or City Services first….but I am certain that bylaw applies to all states.

My bill came this month for my house at $415, we have a pool but we dont use it and the filter is off (yes the pool is green, I dont care). Our house is around 2,500ft big, with 3 bedrooms 2 baths. We have lights on and off sometimes but mostly on during the night. We have 3 refrigerators. We 2, and 1 large industrial freezer, we have a large cutting machine that is used for about 20min once a week that pulls into the 220V socket. And the kitchen stove is used somewhat constantly during noon for an hour cooking large meals, and then during the night for a few minutes (that is 220V). I dont know much about electricity, what consumes the most out of what you heard. Me and my stepdad are having an argument about this and he says its the lightbulbs cause they’re always on during the night (none of them are fluorescent). I tell him it’s the AC which is pretty much on during the day at 75 degrees and the freezes. Please help PS: Im not sure if the house is well insulated or not.

Answer:
your stuff still takes energy when its plugged in and turned off… so when your stuff is offf unplugg it this means lights, television radios, computers and everything else for the most part alot of ppl put their computer on all the time and that drains alot of energy… your stepdad is right with the lights just turn them off if you arent using them dont use tehm in the day open a window … but ur also right dont use the ac so much use fans less energy :)

As technology continues to improve prices for solar panels and related hardware become more reasonable. Solar panels cost substantially less today than they did only a few years ago and offer tremendously better output per panel. Solar panels has improved so much that now your can generate the same amount of electricity with 1/3 less panels than it previously took.

The improvements in solar panel technology extend to other areas of the panels as well. The lastest solar panels are more durable and can take extreme weather much better than previous panels. This means they will last longer and perform at their peak for most of their useful life.

Previous generations of solar panels would become less efficient over time and would generate less energy as a result. This would mean that for the final 5 years of a 15-20 year life cycle, the panels would run at 50-75% efficiency. One of the major problems with them was that they became less efficient at producing electricity over time, mainly because the panels were succeptable to the weather.

Modern solar panels are more durable and they will continue to generate electricity even at the later stages of their life expectancy. One more advancement in solar technology is that the newer panels will still generate power when the sun hits them at a sharp angle. This is really important since very few homes will be perfectly positioned to catch the suns rays directly on the panel. These new panels can tolerate these angles better and still generate the bulk of their power. This can be very helpful for homes that are right on the edge of having the perfect exposure. This improvement is incorporated into most of the newer units and has not raised the solar panels cost at all.

One is the ways that modern solar panels have improved is in the way they convert the DC current from the panels to the AC current the home runs on. In older panels, this DC current was run from each solar panel to a main junction box that was connected to a large inverter. The role of the inverter is to switch all the solar panel’s energy into AC current, which the home needs.

This configuration is fairly inefficient do to the length of wire needed to attach the solar panels on the roof of the house to the inverter on the ground near the house’s breaker panel. With the newer panels, they each have their own inverter called a microinverter that is built into the panels.

This means each of the panels individually converts its DC output directly to AC within the panel and delivers this to the home directly.

Installing solar panels for home use can be a great way to minimize or even eliminate your electric bill. Solar panel technolgy is ever expanding and each new model is made more durable and efficient than the previous one.

The thing that makes solar panels a great option is that they are much more efficent than they used to be, which means that fewer panels can create the same amount of power as previous models. You won’t need to use up as much space on your roof and the system and setup costs will be reduced as well.

In addition to the panels themselves, the connection and control technology required to connect these to your home has improved as well. The latest systems provide a very sophisticated controller that will allow you to use the power that you generate during the day, and then switch to your local utility for power during the evening. Inverters can also funnel any extra energy you produce directly to your local utility, which will earn you credit. You can now live off of the power grid during the day and also sell your extra power if your system is large enough to produce an excess.

In the evening, this inverter will connect you back up to the local power utility for you to buy back the power you need in the evenings. Most communities have a limit to the power you generate, and you are not allowed to generate more power than you consume each month. This is why it is a good idea to not build a system any larger than it needs to be.

In order to get the most benefit from a solar power system you should mount your panels in the location that has the most direct sunlight hitting it. If your roof is at an odd angle you can adjust the mounting to correct it. Some of the panels being sold today will still generate power when the sun hits it at a sharp angle, which will make the mounting setup even more flexible than previously possible.

There are federal and local grants and loans also available to people who plan on installing solar power systems in their homes.Be sure to check into these programs if you are considering one of these systems to make sure you qualify.

By having solar panels supplying your home with power you can save money of your electric bills and help protect the environment as well.

Solar Power For Home Use

If you are looking for a way to lower your energy bills each month, a solar power home kit might be the answer. If you want to reduce the amount of money you pay on your electric bills then recent advances in solar panel design has made this technology an effective method to do so. By utilizing a solar power system you can replace up to all of of your electricity by using the sun, and you don’t have to pay for power any more.

Solar systems are simple to set up and are offered in a wide variety of different configurations. You can do most of the work yourself and have a qualified electrician connect the final cables to your home. The reason you need to bring in an electrician is that there are specific codes that the installation needs to adhere to in order to be approved, and a licensed electrician will be able to accomplish this for you.

You need to find your home’s power needs before you purchase a solar power system. You can do this by reviewing your power bills. You need to look for your highest power usage and also figure out your average usage for the year.

This will allow you to match a system size with the needs of your home. Also, most of the modern solar power home systems enable you to install a basic setup with a few panels and then add more each year as your budget permits. This way you can pay a little bit each year instead of paying for the full system initially.

There are two key parts to a solar power setup and they are the power inverter and the solar panels. The solar panels will sit on a rail system that stands a few inches above the tiles of your roof. You do this to make sure rain and debris doesn’t get stuck in the panels and that they are fully ventilated. You should secure the rails to the roof joists in order to be certain that they are properly anchored. Although new solar panels aren’t as heavy as previous panels, they still are a significant weight and should be supported sufficiently.

Once the panels are in place you can run the power cables down to where the inverter wil go. An inverter will change the DC current generated by the solar panels into AC current that all homes use. The two types of inverters are interior and exterior.

If you have an exterior model, just route the cable neatly to the place the invert will be mounted. If you plan on using an interior model you might have to hire an electrician since specific electric codes might apply. Once you have laid out and mounted the power cables they need to be connected to the electrical system of your home.

This should be done by a licensed electrician who is familiar with solar power home systems. Once completed, you solar power system will turn sunlight into years of reduced electrical bills.

They have to be bright and lots of em like a bunch in bloom so they fill uup in colors. what type are they? thank you soooo much (easy 10 points!) Color ful, birght, many in bloom. easy 10 points. also whats your favorite flowers and why? ignore the first one

Answer:
I live in Tuscaloosa area of alabama and I have a lot of Gardenia’s blooming (white and very fragrant), plus they are evergreen (don’t lose their leaves in wintertime). Another one I really enjoy and is easy to care for is the Pee Gee Hydrangea, This is not your typical hydrangea bush which may only get about 3 feet tall. The Mop head type usually are either pink or blue. The Pee Gee on the other hand flowers all summer long start off with a large long White bloom which later turns to a shade of very light pink, it covers the entire tree/bush. These can grow rather tall (12 to 15 feet) and you can shape into a tree if you like or just let it go. Remember though with any hydrangea if you cut it in the fall you will not have blooms on those particular branches you cut. The blooms grow on last years wood. Below is a link to a picture of one. If you are in the area I can root some for you if you like (takes about 3 to 4 weeks)

Name of special garden tool?

There is a garden tool that Billy Mays (God Love Him) used to advertise. I pulls weeds by the root without you having to bend over (and break your back) Does anyone know the name of this tool and where I can purchase one. My 76 yr old mother insists on still doing her own gardening but she has an artificial hip which doesn’t allow her to bend as easily as a real hip does. She’s killing herself out there and she won’t let me help. I don’t want to discourage her from remaining active….I think it’s great that she doesn’t want to just sit and knit or watch TV and become sedentary. But, I really think this tool would help. Can anybody give me the name of it and/or direct me as to where to purchase one?

so recently i was cooking dinner while my children were watching tv. 5 minutes later, i went to check up on my kids and i saw a stranger in my living room! after i shooed him out, my 5 year old told me my 3 year old opened the door for the stranger. how to i keep this from happening again? i have a hollow door, but i want to install a chain lock. is there any other way to keep my children from opening doors fo strangers? im on a budget so i cant buy a new door and put a chain lock on it

Answer:
With a chain the door can still be opened a few inches, making it easy for someone to kick in. A sliding bolt would be better. Put it high enough so your kids can’t reach it. The best thing is just tell the kids to never do that again. A three year old is old enough to understand, Never open the door to strangers.

Answer:
(a) Decide the function of your shed. That way you’ll know whether to make it tall & narrow or wide & spacious. (b) Start up with a rough sketch till you get the design right. Then transfer your plan to a graph paper with detailed floor plans, openings for doors / windows and exact sizes. Having a detailed shed plan will help you get the right materials and calculate costs before you start building.
